Instructions
1. Trace around the bottom of the can onto red construction paper. Draw tabs pointing in toward the center of this circle.
2. Draw another circle about an inch outside the first circle. This will be the brim of your hat.
3. Cut it out, making sure not to cut off the tabs inside the inner circle.
4. Cut a strip of red construction paper as tall as the aluminum can and wrap it all the way around the can. Glue the strip in place.
5. Use the tabs to glue the brim into the top of the can. Let dry.
6. Cut strips of white construction paper to make the stripes for the hat and glue them around the can.
7. Gather coins to use for the game (two quarters, five nickels, five dimes, and 10 pennies).
8. Place the can on the ground. Put a piece of tape on the ground about 6 to 8' away from the can.
9. Try to toss the coins into the "cat's hat" from behind the piece of tape.
10. After each child throws all the coins, count the child's change that makes it into the hat. The child whose coins add up to the highest monetary value wins.
