10 2-quart orange juice cartonspaintpaintbrusheskickball
Instructions
1. Have the children paint the cartons. Let dry.
2. Play this game in a large outdoor play area.
3. Arrange the cartons like bowling pins, with one carton in the front, two behind the first one, three behind the second row, and four in the back row.
4. Have the children stand about 10 feet away from the cartons and knock them over with a kickball. Each child gets two turns.
5. Ask the children to count the number of cartons they knock down.
6. As a challenge for older children, number the orange juice cartons from 1 to 10 with a black marker or black paint. Set them up like bowling pins. Have the children roll a kickball to knock them down. Ask them to write the numbered cartons they knocked down on a piece of paper (for example, 5, 7, and 8). Help them to add the numbers together to get the sum.
