Materials

red and white pipe cleaners or chenille stems (five red and

five white per child)

scissors

Instructions

* Christmas Day is December 25th.
1. Cut pipe cleaners in half. Give five red and five white pipe cleaners to
each child.
2. Show the children how to wind the red pipe cleaner around the white
one (or the other way around) and bend the top to make candy canes.
More to do Math: Use some of the candy canes for counting activities. The hooked top
makes them easy to hang off a cup. Write the numbers 1-5 or 1-10 on cups
(one number on each cup) and have the children place the appropriate
number of canes on each cup.
