Instructions

1. Decide if you want snowmen on your bulletin board for just the winter
months (November, December, January, February, and March) or if you want
the display all year long.
2. Cut out a large basic snowman from white paper.
3. Cut out or draw arms to hold monthly decorations (see illustration).
4. Draw a mouth using a black marker and glue on wiggly eyes. Cut out and
attach a hat, nose, and buttons.
5. Cut out a different seasonal object for the snowman to hold each month (see
illustration for ideas).
6. You can make one snowman and attach monthly props using straight pins,
tape, Velcro, or Plasti-Tac, or you can make separate snowmen and glue on
the decorations.
7. Sing or chant the following song with the children.
Monthly Holidays by Mary Brehm
January is a cold month
And the beginning of a new year.
February has President's Day
And Valentines do appear.
March brings the luck of the Irish
Sporting colors green and white.
April has the Easter holiday
And it rains day and night.
May honors our dear mothers
And flowers emerge from the ground.
June is graduation time
And cards for fathers can be found.
July is the time for picnics
And our flag is everywhere.
August is the garden month
And going to the state fair.
September starts the school year
And riding the school bus too.
October brings Halloween
And apples and pumpkins come into view.
In November we think of Pilgrims
And that first Thanksgiving Day.
December brings Christmas time
A child's favorite holiday.
And so twelve months have flown by
As we recall each one.
Then we look forward to a new year
And more holiday fun.
