Instructions

* January 1st is New Year's Day.
1. Gather a variety of monthly calendars
with child-friendly pictures. Tear out
each page so that the children have
an assortment to choose from.
2. Show the children an intact
calendar and explain
what it is used for. Point
out the name of the
months, the days of the
week, and the dates.
Explain that January is the
first month of the year.
3. Let each child choose a
page from the assortment
of calendar pages.
4. Encourage them to
practice writing the
numbers in the boxes.
