Materials

markertagboardscissors or paper cutterlaminatorpocket chart

Instructions

1. Make button cards on tagboard of sets of buttons 1 to 10. Draw 10 buttons on one card, nine buttons on another card, and so on.

2. Print the number names, using a large font, one to ten on another sheet of tagboard.

3. Cut around the number names and button cards so they are all the same size and fit into the rows of the pocket chart. Laminate the cards for durability.

4. Distribute the button cards to the children.

5. Place the number names in the pocket chart, leaving room for the button cards.

6. Invite each child to count the buttons on her card and place it next to the appropriate number name in the pocket chart.
