Instructions

1. Before doing this activity with the children, trace around buttons to make patterns on the sentence strips. For example, trace one large button, one small button, and so on, or a button with two holes, one with four holes, one with two holes, one with four holes, and so on.

2. Give each child a sentence strip with a button pattern on it, and invite all of the children to match buttons to the patterns, continuing the pattern to the end of the paper.Safety Note: Supervise this activity closely to make sure no children put buttons into their mouths. If any of the children tend to put items in their mouths, use larger items to make the patterns.
