Materials

Buttons, acorns, or any other small object

craft sticks

glue

bowl

dice (purchased or homemade)

Instructions

1. Glue five buttons onto each stick. Make about 20 sticks.
2. Glue five buttons onto five more sticks, and glue the five sticks to two empty
sticks to make a rack. Let dry overnight.
3. Put a bunch of buttons in a bowl.
4. Two to four children can play together. The child rolls the dice and counts out
the same amount of buttons. Each child takes a turn.
5. When the child has five buttons, she can trade it in for a five-button stick.
When the child has five sticks, she can trade it in for a rack.
6. Play until a pre-determined number of buttons are collected. A good number
is 50 buttons (two racks) or 25 buttons (one rack).
7. To make dice, cut a sponge into square cubes and draw or glue dots on each
side.
