Materials

1 plastic lid from a five-gallon ice cream container

8 plastic lids from yogurt snacks

1 small plastic cup

plastic stick-on numbers (1 to 8)

hot glue gun (adult only)

36 assorted buttons

gallon-size zipper-closure bag

Instructions

1. To help children settle down, sing the following to the tune of "The Bear
Went Over the Mountain."
My fingers are starting to wiggle.
My fingers are starting to wiggle.
My fingers are starting to wiggle
Around, around, around.
My hands are starting to wiggle.
My hands are starting to wiggle.
My hands are starting to wiggle
Around, around, around.
2. Ask the children to name as other parts of the body (in addition to fingers
and hands) that come in "pairs," then use the named parts in the song.
Continue singing additional verses substituting different body parts for the
underlined words. Sing a verse for each "pair" mentioned.
