Marker

brightly-colored construction paper

scissors

narrow strips of black paper

glue

scrap materials (yarn, small pieces of paper, glitter, sequins, and

so on)

Instructions

1. Trace around each child's feet on construction paper to make butterfly wing
shapes.
2. Encourage the children to draw a body shape between the two butterfly
wings.
3. Cut out the butterflies.
4. Help the children paste narrow strips of black paper in place for the
antennae.
5. Encourage the children to decorate their butterflies with scrap materials.
6. Hang the butterflies in your room.
