Materials

simple games and puzzles

inexpensive manipulatives (from a dollar

store)

1" mosaic tiles

small, flat wooden shapes from a craft shop

stamp pad and rubber stamps

paper

5" x 7" index cards

plastic sandwich bags

small boxes

Instructions

1. Cut three to five pieces of clothesline long enough so that when you form a
circle with a piece, five children can comfortably sit inside. Place the circles
on the floor and let the children pretend that they are "birds in a nest."
2. When a parent arrives for pick-up, the "little bird" leaves the nest and flies
away.
3. On other days, children can pretend to be ducks that waddle away or
bunnies that hop away. You can even have children choose what they want
to be.
