Instructions

1. Ask the children to sit in a circle.
2. Once you have their attention, call out
the color of your shirt.
3. Then, show the children an object that
matches your shirt.
4. Reinforce the idea by asking the children
to point out other objects in the room
that match the color of your shirt.
5. Explain that you want all the children to
find an object in the classroom that
matches the shirts that they are wearing.
(If any of the children are wearing striped
or patterned shirts, assign them a single color from their shirts.)
6. Regroup and ask each child to take a turn showing the group her color match.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Repeat the activity, asking the children to find objects that match their pants.
l Can the children think of ways that they match one other (such as wearing
same color clothes, having similar hair, ages, and so on)? Suggest a few
possibilities if they need help getting started.
