Instructions

1. Paint the palm side of the children's hands or help them paint their own
hands. Give each child a sheet of construction paper.
2. Help the children press their hands on the paper with their fingers pointing
straight up. These will be "stems."
3. Ask children to tear pieces of tissue paper and glue them to the top of the
fingertips to make "flowers."
4. Add the words that children dictate about their flowers.
5. If desired, make a large classroom mural of a spring or summer garden by
having the children make handprint flowers on large paper.
More to do Holidays: These make great Mother's Day, Father's Day, or Valentine's Day cards.
Fold a piece of construction paper in half. Have the children make flowers on
the front of the folded paper. Open the paper and write phrases inside the card
such as, "I'm blooming with love for you," or "My love blooms in your care."
Encourage children to decorate the card as desired and sign their names.
