Materials

Tape measure

construction paper cut into 2"-thick strips

scissors

stapler, glue, or tape

marker

pipe cleaners, 2 for each child

pompoms, 2 for each child

Instructions

1. Use the tape measure to measure the circumference of each child's head.
2. Make a headband for each child by cutting the paper strips the same length
as the measurements. You may need to staple or glue two strips of paper
together.
3. Encourage the children to draw bugs or anything else they desire on their
headbands.
4. Let the children glue a pompom to one end of each pipe cleaner. Let the glue
dry. These will be used for the antennae of the bug.
5. Attach the pipe cleaners several inches apart to the undecorated side of the
strip of paper. Staple, glue, or tape them in place.
6. Staple or tape the ends of the strip together to fit snuggly around each
child's head.
