Instructions

1. Make a snowball and put it into the large bucket. Then ask the children
to guess how many snowballs it would take to fill the bucket.
2. Together, add snowballs to the bucket, one at a time, counting out loud
as each is put in.
3. Repeat with the smaller bucket.
4. Ask the children why one bucket holds more snowballs than the other.
Discuss their responses.
5. As a variation, fill a bucket with very large snowballs, then very small
ones. Ask the children to explain why the count is much higher with the
small snowballs.
