large box

paper grocery bags

clear book tape

tempera paint

ice cream bucket lids

Instructions

* May is National Transportation Month.
1. Fold the flaps of the box in to support its sides.
2. Cover the box with large paper grocery bags. Use clear book tape to seal
all edges.
3. Encourage the children to paint auto details on the box: white circles for
headlights, red circles for tail lights, assorted colors for license plates, and
so on.
4. For the steering wheel, use a 5-quart ice cream lid, cutting spaces to
create a cross at the center of the wheel.
