Laminated wrapping paper or contact paper

Instructions
1. Read the children one of the quilt books.
2. Beforehand, cut colored construction paper into 9" x 9" (22 cm x 22 cm)
squares and wallpaper samples into 3" x 3" (7 cm x 7 cm) squares.
3. Give each child a construction paper square. Encourage them to choose small
wallpaper squares and glue them onto the construction paper, creating a
small patchwork quilt.
4. Put the children's quilts together on a bulletin board to form one large quilt.

Invite parents or members of a local quilt guild to bring in quilts to show to the
children and demonstrate how they are made.
Field Trip: Take a field trip to a local museum or fabric store to look at quilts.
Special Days: Have a "quilt day." Invite the children to bring in their favorite
blankets or quilts to share.
