Instructions
1. Show Ship Ahoy! to the children. Talk about each picture in this wordless
book. In this book, a small child on a sofa imagines that the sofa turns into a
succession of sailing vessels. At the book's end, the boy imagines he
encounters a sea monster. Ask the children what the boy really sees and talk
about pretend play.
2. Put the blue carpet sample, pillows, cardboard rolls, and cartons in the Block
Center and encourage the children to use them in imaginative building.
3. Hang pictures of boats and ships in the Block Area.

Home-School Connection: Take photos of the children's creations and make
them into a book. Make several copies and let the children have turns taking it
home to share with their families.
