Instructions

1. This winter fingerplay is fun to do after the children have had experience
making a real snowman outside.
2. Say the following rhyme with the children and act it out.
Let's all make a snowman. (stand in a circle)
Help me roll the ball. (make rolling motion with hands as if rolling ball away
from you)
First he is so little; (kneel down with hands out and palms down near floor)
Then he starts getting tall. (gradually stand up as you say words and raise hands)
Put on the bottom, (make motion of placing a ball on the ground)
Then the middle, (place imaginary ball on top of first "ball")
Lastly goes the top. (place third ball on top)
Give him two eyes, (point twice)
A nose, a mouth, (point for nose and make a curved line in the air for mouth)
Three buttons (point three times, going down in a row)
Then we'll stop! (clap on the word "stop")
More to do
Art: Use clay or playdough to make three-dimensional snowmen. As the children
make their snowmen, repeat the fingerplay as they roll and mold clay. This is also great
for teaching concepts such as little/tall, bottom/middle/top, and counting to three.
