Instructions
1. Choose any poem and write it in large letters on a large piece of tag board.
Laminate the tag board or cover it with clear contact paper.
2. During morning group time, read the poem out loud. Select a child to help
with circling one letter in the poem.
3. Vary the activity by asking one child to circle all of one specific letter, or ask
the children to take turns circling letters.
4. Help the child count the letters.
5. When all the letters have been circled, hang the poem on the wall.
6. Repeat the activity using a new poem.

Type a poem on a piece of paper and make enough copies for each child. Give
each child a copy to bring home so they can draw a picture to illustrate the
poem. Make a class book of poetry using the drawings.
