Instructions

1. Place a different number of blocks inside each sock. Tie each sock shut with a piece of string and place them in a box or basket.

2. During circle time, invite each child to choose one filled sock from the box.

3. Invite the children to chant the following phrase three times with you as they pass their socks around the circle: "How many blocks are in your socks?"4. After the third time, each child holds the sock and feels how many blocks are inside.

5. Randomly call on five or six children to share how many blocks are in their socks. Begin the chant again as the children pass the socks again.

6. Continue the game until everyone has had an opportunity to share how many blocks are in their socks.
