Materials

Cupcake pattern

Construction paper

Scissors

White glue

Popsicle sticks or spoons

Confetti or shredded paper

Markers or pencils

Instructions

1. Ahead of time, cut out cupcake shapes from construction paper, or invite the children to cutout their own using a pattern.

2. Have the children use a stick or spoon to spread glue on the top of the cupcake as if they werefrosting it. Before the glue dries, ask the children to sprinkle confetti on their cupcake.

3. When the glue dries, help the children write their name and birthday on the bottom half of thecupcake.

4. Hang the cupcakes on a bulletin board. Add photos of the children and their birthday celebrations.More to doMore art: Make a special crown for the birthday child. Design a colorful birthday flag with fabricscraps and display it on the children's birthdays.
