birthday wrapping paper

books about birthdays

playdough

real birthday candles

birthday decorations (plates, cups, napkins, banners, hats, blowers)

paper, folded (for making birthday cards)

crayons

Instructions

1. Wrap a box with birthday wrapping paper and put books about
birthdays, playdough, birthday candles, decorations, folded paper, and
crayons inside the box.
2. Introduce the box to the children at the beginning of the year, or on the
day of the first child's birthday celebration.
3. Put the box in a center and let the children celebrate the birthday child
by reading books, making cards, decorating, baking and putting the
candles on a pretend cake, and singing "Happy Birthday."
4. Use the birthday box whenever a child is celebrating her or his birthday.
5. Make sure each child has a special day.
