1/2 cup butter
1 tablespoon honey 4 teaspoons molasses 2 eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla 1/8 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 cup rye flour cookie sheet mixing bowl and spoon measuring cups and spoons oven marzipan (almond paste) blue food coloringInstructions
1. Let the children help with the following steps. Make sure each child is
involved in some way.
2. Cream together butter, honey, and molasses.
3. Beat the eggs and add to the mixture. Add the vanilla. Add the salt and
the flour.
4. Mix well.
5. Place by tablespoonful on an ungreased cookie sheet.
6. Push a thumbprint into each cookie.
7. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Let cool.
8. Color the marzipan blue.
9. Encourage the children to make marzipan robin eggs and fill their "nests"
with the eggs. If desired, sculpt a marzipan robin for each child's "nest."
