Corrugated box (preferably with two sections)
contact paper or laminated wrapping paper scissors rubber cement labelInstructions
1. Convert a corrugated box into a storage container for your big books. If
possible, find a two-section box with a 15"-high divider down the middle
lengthwise. The box should be at least 21" long and 6" deep (each section
should be 3" deep).
2. Cover the box with contact or decorative paper to improve its appearance
and life span. If using laminated wrapping paper, cut it to the desired size
and glue it to the box with rubber cement.
3. Label the outside of the box with an attractive label.
4. Slide your big books into the top of the box for quick and easy storage. A
two-sectioned box should hold up to sixteen big books securely in place
(eight big books in each section).
5. This portable and durable box can be moved easily to any location in the
classroom. During class time, put it in the reading area where children have
easy access to the books.
6. After reading a big book to the children, place it in the box. Leave the book
accessible to the children for a month or so. Rotate the books monthly so
that each big book can be displayed for at least a month.
