9" x 12" tagboard number cards with large numbers 1 to 10
Instructions
1. Arrange the cards 1 to 5 on the chalk rail or on the rug so all the children can see
them.
2. Point to each card, asking the children to name the number.
3. Ask the children the following questions. Choose one child to point to the
correct card and name the number.
Questions for cards 1 to 5:
* I come after 4. What number am I?
* I come before 2. What number am I?
4. Continue with these riddles, giving the clue and asking, What number am I?:
* I come after 3.
* I come before 5.
* I come after 1.
* I come before 4.
* I come after 2.
* I come before 3.
5. When the children are successful with 1 to 5, add 6 to 10 to the lineup, using
these clues:
* I come after 6.
* I come before 8.
* I come after 7.
* I come before 9.
* I come after 8.
* I come after 9.
* I come before 10.
* I come before 7.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
* Give the children number cards 1 to 5 in random order. Can the children put
the cards in the correct order?
* Can the children answer the number questions easily?
