Instructions

1. Have the children form a circle. Put a large cardboard box in the middle
of their circle.
2. Select a child to be the "bear." The bear crawls into box and covers herself
with a blanket.
3. The rest of the children walk around the circle singing the following
song:
I see a big brown bear
With lots of thick brown hair.
He (she) is sleeping, sleeping in his (her) den,
But we will wake him (her) up again
If we can count to ten.
4. The children count to ten. When they finish, the bear wakes up, stretches,
and stands tall. The children continue to sing:
Brown bear stands tall and shows his (her) paws,
Then crawls away on all his (her) fours.
5. The bear crawls out of the box and joins the circle.
6. Select a new child to be the bear. Continue playing until everyone has
had a turn.
