Dried beans, different varieties Funnels

Cups Soil

String

Instructions

1. Sort the dry beans by size, color, texture, etc.Note: Use caution with children who still put small objects in their mouths.

2. Set up a bean table with funnels and cups for the children to play with.

3. Plant the beans in clear plastic cups and graph how long they take to germinate.

4. Put some of the cups in a dark place. What is different compared to the bean plants placed in the sun?5. Allow the beans to grow up a string, and measure and graph the growth over time.
