1. Cut cardboard or fiber board into a manageable size for the children in
your class (younger writers need more space to write and draw, but keep
the size manageable).
2. Use binder clips to attach a piece of paper to the cardboard.
3. Place writing tools inside a zipper-closure bag and clip to the back of the
board.
4. Let the children take their writing/art boards outdoors.
5. Welcome open-ended work or make suggestions to get children started.
For example, suggest that they draw the pattern they see on the bark of
a tree or list things they see in the sky.
