Instructions

* The second Sunday of May is Mother's Day.
1. Away from the children, spray paint the jar lids gold. Let dry.
2. Help each child follow this recipe. Supervise closely.
* Measure 2 teaspoons of perfume and pour into a cup.
* Add 1 drop of child's mother's favorite color (food coloring).
* Measure 1/4 cup of Epsom salts and pour into a bowl.
* Add perfume and food coloring mixture to the bowl and stir well.
3. Encourage the children to enjoy the scent, color, and texture of this
mixture before spooning it into their jars.
4. Provide tacky glue, an assortment of "jewels," 18" lengths of lace or silk
ribbon, and 5" cloth circles (cut with pinking sheers).
5. Children can make jeweled lids or cloth lids. If they decide to make
jeweled lids, have them glue the jewels on the lids and let dry before
adding salts to their jars.
6. Help children spoon the salt mixture into their jars and secure the lids.
7. If a child is using a cloth lid, help her tie a 5" circle in place with a ribbon
and make a bow.
8. Help the children wrap their jars in colored tissue paper.
9. Tape bubble wrap around each jar and wrap like a bundle. Add a gift tag
designed by the child.
