50 to 100 uniform rectangular blocksseveral dolls or stuffed animals, each a different heightcamera
Instructions
1. Invite the children to bring a favorite doll or stuffed animal to class.
2. Stand one of the dolls (or animals) on the floor or a table. Explain that they should stack blocks as tall as the doll. Count together how many blocks are needed.
3. Repeat with a couple more dolls. Invite the children to guess the number of blocks needed prior to the count.
4. Invite children to measure the doll or animal they brought to class using blocks.
5. Photograph each doll with corresponding blocks. Display the photographs, and label the height of each.
