What to do
1. Read It Looked Like Spilled Milk by Charles G. Shaw.
2. Have the children find a shady spot to lie down on their mats and watch the clouds.
3. Ask the children to imagine that the clouds are pictures and to observe how the wind changes
the shape of the clouds.
4. Give each child one sheet of blue construction paper and a half-sheet of white construction
paper. Have the children tear the white paper into the shapes they see in the clouds.
5. Let the children arrange the white shapes on the blue paper.
6. Help the children identify the shapes with words.
More to do
More art: Invite the children to create a mural depicting what they saw in the sky, then suspend
the mural from the ceiling.
