Instructions

1. Help the children trace objects and cut them out to use for measuring. They might trace their arm, a classroom object, or their whole body.

2. Ask the children questions about the measurements: "How many arms long is the table? How many children do we need to be as tall as a dinosaur? How many crayons did it take to measure the chair?" This method is meaningful to children and is a great preparation for using standard measuring devices, such as a ruler.
