Instructions

1. Make felt board pieces to match favorite storybooks (such as The Very Hungry
Caterpillar by Eric Carle). Draw characters and/or objects from each book
onto felt and cut them out.
2. Use the felt board pieces at circle time. Have the children participate by
putting the pieces or characters from the story on the flannel board as you
read the book or tell the story. Make sure to have enough pieces for
everyone in the class to have a turn.
3. Make a storytelling learning center by putting the felt board, books, and felt
board pieces in an area of the room.
4. Children can take turns being the teacher and students during free play.
