Materials

discarded CDs (music, software, or blank)

solid-colored contact paper and scissors, optional

permanent felt-tipped markers in many colors

blue masking tape

variety of "targets" (scatter rug, hula hoop, milk crate, and so on)

depending on age and abilities of children

Instructions

1. This is the perfect activity for children to do when they are waiting for the
next activity to begin.
2. Have each child draw a picture on a square of drawing paper.
3. When all the children have created a picture, assemble a "quilt" by sticking
the pictures onto contact paper into a quilt pattern with alternate strips of
fabric or paper.
4. With a class of 12, there would be three rows across and four rows down. The
contact paper holds it together so it can be displayed on a wall of the
classroom.
5. If a roll of contact paper is not available, tape together sheets of sticky paper
to achieve the desired size.
