Materials

cardboard

scissors

marker

brown felt

needle and thread

safety pins

rice or beans

Instructions

1. Cut cardboard into an acorn shape. Trace around the acorn shape onto
brown felt.
2. Cut out two acorn shapes for each child.
3. Safety pin the two pieces together temporarily. Help the children sew the
two pieces together, leaving an opening on one side.
4. Invite the children to stuff their beanbags with rice or beans and sew
shut.
5. Cut out a cardboard tree and leave an opening in the trunk. Encourage
the children to toss their beanbags into the hole ("squirrel's nest").
