Instructions
1. Try this quick-and-easy transition activity any time during the day when you
have a few extra moments.
2. Gather some farm animal play pieces, a pair of child's binoculars or a
magnifying glass, and a graph mat.
3. Ask children to find animals and place them on the graph mat. The children
take turns "spying" an animal with the binoculars or magnifying glass and
placing it on the graph mat.
4. Talk about how many are in each column or row.
5. This activity helps with categorization, taking turns, and graphing, and it is
fun at the same time.
Author's Note: You can make your own graph on a computer by creating a
table of the desired size and printing it on poster board.
