Materials

8" x 12" poster board

Instructions

1. Cut each piece of poster board into the shape of a bell. Write one letter on
each bell, to spell the word "play."
2. Just prior to the start of play time, tape the posters to a wall for everyone to
see. Explain that the letters spell "play."
3. After about a quarter of play time is over, ring the bell to get the children's
attention. Tell them one quarter of playtime is over, and remove the letter "P."
4. Repeat until all of the letters are gone and play time is over.
5. Repeating this activity over many days and weeks will help children grasp
the passage of time.
