Instructions

1. Read a book about worms to the children, then have a discussion about worms.2. Give each child a wet paper towel and place a live worm on it.3. Encourage the children to observe the worms for a few minutes, using magnifying glasses.4. Shine a flashlight on the worm's head and observe what happens. Then, shine the light on the end of the worm and see what happens.5. Talk about where worms live, what they eat, and why they are good for the soil.6. Show the children how to return the worms to the soil, by putting them in a garden or a lawn area.
