Instructions
1. Through books and pictures, give the children background information
about people who lived in castles, including how they lived and dressed, and
what they were called, (princess, duke, king, and so on).
2. Pre-cut cardboard into 2' x 3' pieces. Turn the cardboard sideways and cut out
holes for a face and hands to stick through. Make one for each child.
3. Put the pre-cut cardboard and art materials in the Art Station.
4. Let the children put their face and hands through the cardboard and stand
in front of a mirror. Talk to them about how they want their character to
dress. Encourage their creativity by showing them pictures in books.
5. When children are finished, encourage them to use their royal costumes in
dramatic play or to act out a story at group time.
