Instructions

l Prepare art area for activity.
l Display chart paper for children's responses.
What To Do
1. Gather the children together and engage them in a discussion about
the seasons. Can the children name the current season? Can they
name all the seasons and tell the order in which they occur?
2. Next, talk with the children about the five senses, asking them to name
and describe the senses. Help the children if necessary.
3. Ask the children to name things that they see, hear, taste, smell, and
feel in each season, focusing on one season at a time.
4. Have the children point out where on the chart their answers would
belong.
5. Invite the children to draw pictures of the things they hear, see, feel,
taste, or smell during their favorite seasons.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Can the children associate a sensory experience or activity with a
particular season?
l Can the children express appropriate ideas to add to the chart?
