Instructions

1. Write the following sentence on a sentence strip: "(Teacher's name)
likes_____snow." Read the sentence with the class.
2. Choose two or three children each day to make a sentence strip about what
kind of snow they like. For example, "Sharon likes white snow." Each day, read
the written sentences, and then do more sentences day after day until every
child has a completed sentence strip.
3. Put all sentence strips in the Writing center. Ask each child to find her
sentence strip and cut apart the words in the sentence.
4. Ask the children to glue their sentences back in order at the bottom of a
piece of 11" x 17" blue construction paper.
5. Encourage the children to illustrate their sentence using a piece of white
chalk.
