Instructions

What to do
1. Ahead of time, cut out a paper doll for each child. Pour red and blue paint into small cups and
place a marble in each cup.
2. Invite the children to lay their paper doll in the bottom of the box or pan.
3. Ask the children to put one red and one blue marble in the box or pan using a spoon, then roll
the marbles around by gently tilting the box side to side. The design they create illustrates the
veins and arteries in our bodies.
More to do
Science: Have the children feel their own heartbeat or listen with a stethoscope. Ask them to feel
or listen to the beat when they are sitting still, then listen again after they have jumped in place.
Use a flashlight to observe the veins and arteries in their ears and fingers.
