Instructions
1. Place the materials in the beach area.
2. Encourage the children to manipulate the shells, the scale, and other items of
their choice in the classroom.
3. Ask them to predict how many shells it will take to make the shell side of the
bucket go down (weigh more). Let them choose items from the classroom to
weigh against the shells and use in their predictions (blocks, books, stapler,
etc.).
4. Assist the children in documenting their predictions and findings in the
journal.
