Materials

One sheet of dark colored construction paper Cotton swab

Instructions

1. Wet the cotton swab.

2. Using the wet end of the swab, write a large letter Z in the center of the construction paper. Write it lightly so it will evaporate quickly, but make sure it is visible to the children.

3. Then slowly sing the ABC song like this:A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y...Where's Z?4. Hold up the paper and show the children that the Z has vanished. Continue singing: "Z is no longer there, it evaporated in the air."5. Explain to the children about evaporation.More to doMore science: Give the children construction paper, cotton swabs, and water. Let them draw their own vanishing pictures.
