Instructions

1. Line up the children before leaving the room or area.
2. Ask them to be very quiet. Explain that they must remain quiet so they can
listen for sounds as they walk from one area to the next.
3. Move to the next activity, area or room.
4. Upon arrival, ask what they heard as the transition occurred. Did they hear
the heater? Did they hear the scuffle of feet? Did they hear the wind outside?
More to do Assemble the children in a circle, inside or outside. (You may even want to do
this activity inside and outside to compare the results.) Ask the children to lie
down on the floor or ground. Encourage them to listen quietly to the sounds in
the room or in nature. After a significant amount of time, discuss results.
