Instructions

1. If you don't have a large calendar with the month of February, make your
own from poster board.
2. Label the following days on the calendar in large print or with colorful
stickers: Groundhog Day, Valentine's Day, Washington's birthday, and
Lincoln's birthday.
3. Lay the calendar on the floor at a predetermined distance from the children.
4. The children take turns tossing the beanbag at the calendar and are rewarded
as follows:
* hitting the calendar anyplace wins one M&M
* landing on Groundhog Day wins a sticker
* landing on Valentine's Day wins a candy heart
* landing on Lincoln's birthday wins a penny
* landing on Washington's birthday wins a cherry
5. This activity can be played with any calendar month; February lends itself well
because of all its special days.
Note: This game can only be played if the children in your group no longer put
things such as pennies in their mouths. Other rewards can be substituted as you
see fit.
