Instructions

What to do
1. Pour glue into several small bowls. Ask the children to add glitter, sand, and other textures to
the glue in separate bowls.
2. Have the children create a design or picture by squeezing a bottle of ordinary glue as they
move it over their paper.
3. When they are finished, show the children how to drizzle textured glue over their picture using
funnels and spoons.
4. Let the pictures dry completely, then invite the children to run their hands over the surface of
their artwork.
More to do
Math: Sort a collection of objects by their texture and make a colorful picture graph.
Science: Let the children touch and examine a wide assortment of textures. Place objects with
different textures in a box, then ask the children to identify them without looking; surprise the
children with some squiggly and slimy objects.
