Materials

numeral stencils

markers

textured materials (velvet, fine sandpaper, fake fur, sheets of acetate, seersucker

fabric, dotted Swiss fabric, suede, craft foam, screening material)

scissors

8 1/2 " x 11" poster board or card stock in bright colors

glue

hole punch

3-ring binder

Instructions

1. To make a book for the children, trace each numeral on the several different
textured materials and cut them out.
2. Glue the cutouts on 8 1/2 " x 11" sheets of poster board or card stock.
3. Label each page with the name of the numeral and draw a corresponding
number of dots. Allow to dry.
4. Punch holes in the pages and place them in a 3-ring binder. Encourage the
children to trace the numerals and say the names out loud when they read
the book.
