Invite the children to recite the following fingerplay, making the
appropriate gestures when necessary.
Ten little deer (hold up ten fingers)
Lived in a forest. (nod yes)
They listened to a bullfrog chorus, (put hand to ears)
They ran up the hill (run up with fingers on arm)
And down the hill. (run fingers down other arm)
They ran to the right, (run fingers right)
They ran to the left, (run fingers to the left)
They ran through the night
Until they all took a rest. (rest head on hands, tilt head)
More to do Substitute foxes for deer and repeat. Let children make suggestions and
repeat until they no longer show interest.
